Marriage & Couples Counselling: Grow Stronger Together, on Faith and Understanding
A safe, Islamically informed space to help partners rebuild understanding, communication, and connection.
- Free 15-minute consultation first
- Covered by most benefits plans
- Online, evenings and weekends
In short: Marriage and couples counselling is professional counselling for partners at any stage, married, engaged, or navigating challenges, delivered by a licensed Muslim counsellor who understands the Islamic framework of marriage. Sessions combine evidence-based methods like the Gottman approach and Emotionally Focused Therapy with Islamic principles, helping partners rebuild communication, trust, and connection. Sessions are 50 minutes, held online across Canada, and cost $175 (covered by most insurance plans).
Struggling in your relationship can feel isolating, especially when you worry a counsellor won't understand the Islamic vision of marriage, the role of extended family, or why divorce is a last resort for you. Our marriage and couples counselling provides a safe, Islamically informed space to help partners rebuild understanding, communication, and connection, drawing on both evidence-based counselling and Islamic principles.
Whether you are married and repairing a marriage under strain, engaged and preparing for the road ahead, or simply want to strengthen a relationship that's already good, sessions are tailored to your situation.
You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support.
- Communication breakdown and recurring conflict
- Trust issues and recovering from betrayal
- Intimacy and emotional disconnection
- In-law and extended family pressures
- Financial disagreements and role expectations
- Parenting differences
- Considering separation or divorce and wanting clarity
- Rebuilding after a difficult period in the relationship
- Strengthening a relationship that is already good
The Islamic perspective
Marriage in Islam is described in the Qur'an as a relationship of tranquility, love, and mercy: sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah (Qur'an 30:21). Our counsellors work within this framework: they understand the rights and responsibilities of spouses, the value Islam places on preserving marriage, and the reality that seeking help is a sunnah of self-improvement, not a failure. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of you are those who are best to their families." Islamic elements are integrated when you want them and never imposed.

A non-profit, trusted by our community
A Zakat-eligible non-profit recognized by the Canadian Council of Imams and AMJA. More than 2,000 people reached out to us last year.
Does this work if only one partner attends?
Yes. While joint sessions are ideal, individual work on communication patterns, expectations, and emotional regulation often shifts the whole relationship. Many clients begin alone and their partner joins later.
Will the counsellor take sides?
No. Our marriage and couples counsellors are trained to remain neutral and create a space where both partners feel heard. The goal is understanding and repair, not declaring a winner.
Is what we share confidential?
Yes. All sessions follow CRPO confidentiality standards. Nothing is shared with family or community members, ever.
How many sessions does this usually take?
It varies by couple. Some see meaningful change in 6 to 8 sessions; deeper issues can take longer. Your counsellor will review progress with you regularly, and you can pause or stop at any time.
What if my partner is hesitant about counselling?
That's common. Many couples start with the free 15-minute consultation so the hesitant partner can meet the counsellor with zero commitment. Hesitation usually softens once they see the counsellor shares their values.
