Anxiety & Depression Counselling: Find Relief Without Compromising Your Faith
Work through anxiety or depression with a counsellor who understands your faith and lived experience.
- Free 15-minute consultation first
- Covered by most benefits plans
- Online, evenings and weekends
In short: Anxiety and depression counselling is evidence-based treatment, including CBT, behavioural activation, and mindfulness, delivered by a licensed Muslim counsellor who understands how these conditions interact with faith, family, and community life. Sessions are online across Canada, 50 minutes, $175 per session, and covered by most insurance plans.
Living with anxiety or depression as a Muslim can feel isolating, especially when faith and mental health feel disconnected, or when you've been told your struggle means your iman is weak. It doesn't. Our counselling provides a culturally safe space where you can work through anxiety or depression with a counsellor who truly understands your faith and lived experience.
You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support.
- Generalized anxiety and constant worry
- Panic attacks and physical symptoms of anxiety
- Social anxiety and fear of judgment
- Persistent low mood, emptiness, or numbness
- Loss of interest in worship, work, or relationships
- Postpartum depression
- Religious scrupulosity (waswas) and anxiety around worship
- Anxiety or depression linked to family expectations or community pressure
- Work, school, and performance anxiety
The Islamic perspective
Anxiety and low mood are human experiences, not a spiritual verdict. The Qur'an acknowledges distress, "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest" (13:28), and Prophet Yaqub (peace be upon him) wept until he lost his sight. Seeking treatment is fully consistent with tawakkul. Our counsellors can integrate dhikr, prayer, and Islamic reframing alongside clinical tools like CBT, and never tell you to "just pray more."

Questions before you start
A non-profit, trusted by our community
A Zakat-eligible non-profit recognized by the Canadian Council of Imams and AMJA. More than 2,000 people reached out to us last year.
Is anxiety or depression a sign of weak iman?
No. Both are physiological and psychological conditions, not a measure of faith. The Prophet ﷺ himself experienced profound distress and grief. Treating them with counselling is like treating an illness with medicine: an act of responsibility, not doubt.
What methods do you use?
Primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the most researched treatment for both conditions, alongside mindfulness-based approaches, solution-focused counselling, and trauma-informed care when needed. Islamic elements are woven in when you want them.
How quickly will I feel better?
Many clients notice a difference within the first few sessions as they gain tools to manage symptoms. Lasting change typically develops over 8 to 12 sessions, depending on your situation.
What if I have thoughts of self-harm?
Counselling can help, but if you are in crisis right now, please call or text 9-8-8 (Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline) or go to your nearest emergency department. Our services are not a crisis service.
