In short: Spiritual counselling supports Muslims working through faith struggles, spiritual disconnection, guilt, doubt, or a sense of distance from Allah, alongside (or separate from) other mental health concerns. Sessions are delivered by a Muslim counsellor trained to hold spiritual and psychological questions together, online across Canada, 50 minutes, $175 per session, covered by most insurance plans.

Sometimes what weighs on you isn't a diagnosis, it's a question: why do I feel so far from Allah, why did this happen to me, why can't I feel the way I used to about my faith. Our spiritual counselling gives those questions a place to be spoken honestly, without judgment, and without being rushed toward a tidy answer. Many clients pair this with another concern, like anxiety, grief, or a difficult marriage, where faith and mental health are tangled together.

What we help with

You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support.

  • Spiritual disconnection or feeling distant from Allah
  • Doubt, guilt, or fear around faith and practice
  • Religious scrupulosity (waswas) and anxiety around worship
  • Making sense of hardship, loss, or unanswered du'a
  • Reconnecting with faith after a difficult period
  • Tension between cultural expectations and personal faith
  • Integrating faith into recovery from another struggle

The Islamic perspective

The Qur'an does not ask believers to suppress their questions; prophets themselves asked Allah hard questions and were answered with mercy. Our counsellors hold space for doubt and struggle as part of a living faith, not a failure of it, drawing on Islamic scholarship, dhikr, and reflection where welcomed, alongside clinical support for what's underneath the spiritual question.

Questions before you start

A non-profit, trusted by our community

A Zakat-eligible non-profit recognized by the Canadian Council of Imams and AMJA. More than 2,000 people reached out to us last year.

Is this the same as speaking with an imam?

It's complementary, not a replacement. Many clients see both: an imam or scholar for religious guidance, and a spiritual counsellor trained in mental health to work through the emotional and psychological layers underneath.

Do I need to already have a mental health diagnosis?

No. Many clients come simply with a faith question or spiritual heaviness they want to work through, with no separate diagnosis involved.

Will my counsellor push a particular religious view?

No. Your counsellor will never impose a position on a matter of Islamic ruling. The work is about giving you space to think and feel clearly, not about resolving fiqh questions.
