Our Zakat Policy
Zakat-Compliant Muslim Counselling Across Canada
CMC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential Muslim mental health services to Muslims across Canada who are unable to afford such support. Canadian Muslim Counselling is an established Zakat-eligible Islamic counselling organization, recognized by the Canadian Council of Imams and the Assembly of Muslim Jurists America.
Managed by a team of three qualified and experienced Imams serving as board members Imam Omar Patel, Mufti Abrar Ahmed Koya, and Mufti Abdulhai Patel; our organization ensures precision and thoroughness in the allocation of Zakat funds, strictly adhering to Zakat rules. All Zakat donations from our campaign are directed towards Muslims in Canada who are poor and in need, providing critical halal mental health support.
Allocation of Zakat Funds
Funds from our campaign directly support individuals experiencing financial hardship and those in need of Muslim counselling services.
Canadian Muslim Counselling offers a Financial Assistance Program through which eligible Zakat recipients experiencing financial hardship are able to access Zakat funds. Recipients are asked to verify that they are Muslim and meet Zakat eligibility criteria.
As a faith-based Islamic counselling organization, we serve many clients who feel unsupported by conventional Western-based resources and disconnected from their Muslim identity. By providing Muslim mental health support rooted in Islamic principles, we offer culturally and spiritually grounded care that strengthens both their Iman and overall well-being.
Furthermore, through a Wakalah Zakat Contract, individuals entrust us and grant us authority to manage and distribute their Zakat funds in accordance with Islamic guidelines.
Verification of Zakat-Eligibility Status
While we approach all applicants with compassion and respect, we also recognise our responsibility to ensure that Zakat funds are distributed appropriately and in accordance with Islamic guidelines. For this reason, individuals applying to our Financial Assistance Program are required to complete a detailed application form and provide supporting documentation.
