Farhat’s is a Registered Social Work who holds a master’s degree in social work from Wilfrid Laurier University and an undergraduate degree in social work from University of Waterloo. Farhat understands the importance of addressing the unique needs of individuals from various cultural backgrounds – her cross-culture expertise allows her to provide culturally sensitive and inclusive counselling services. Her professional journey began through her passion for helping others, particularly those who have faced trauma and adversity, and has allowed her to channel this passion through her various experiences to focus on providing support to diverse populations.

She has extensive experience facilitating couples, individual counselling and support groups addressing various issues such as domestic violence, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and mental health concerns. She utilizes evidence-based therapeutic techniques to create a safe and supportive environment, where clients can explore their emotions, process their experiences, and develop coping strategies. She uses a combination of approaches to meet her client’s goals for therapy. These approaches include EMDR, Trauma –informed Practices, Emotional Focus therapy, Cognitive Behavior therapy, Solution-Focused, Dialectal Behavioral therapy, Mindfulness and Gottman Method Relational therapy. Her counselling approach is grounded in empathy, compassion and non-judgmental. Every person is unique and deserving of respect and understanding. She creates a safe and supportive environment where the clients feel comfortable sharing their deepest fears, concerns, and emotions.

As a multilingual Counsellor, she is fluent in four languages: English, Pashto, Urdu, Hindi, and Panjabi. This linguistic diversity allows her to effectively communicate and connect with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering a sense of trust and understanding. She passionately believes in the power of cultural humility, continually seeking to expand her knowledge and skills to better serve her clients.
