Abdullah Hatia

Abdullah Hatia is a Canadian born and bred Imam who has travelled to multiple countries on his journey of Islamic knowledge. He completed his formal Islamic training in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies and Arabic from a South African Seminary. He has been serving Muslim communities across Canada as an imam, youth mentor and spiritual care provider since 2007. He is the Imam at the Halton Islamic Association and has been in the position since 2012.

Imam Abdullah is currently pursuing a master level certification in psychotherapy at the Toronto Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling Education and is honoured to be interning at Canadian Muslim Counselling.
With his extensive experience in spiritual counselling and training in clinical psychotherapy, Imam Abdullah is committed to integrating the profound teachings of Islamic Spirituality with the evidence-based practices of psychotherapy to provide clients with a holistic, uplifting, and empowering approach to therapy. He strives to follow the prophetic example of compassion, empathy, and sincerity, fostering a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment for clients.

Imam Abdullah is proficient in English, Arabic, Urdu and Gujarati and has an understanding of the various Muslim cultures through his work in the community.
